Seasearch Diving

Seasearch is a national project for volunteer sports divers who have an interest in what they're seeing under water, want to learn more and want to help protect the marine environment. The main aim is to map out the various types of sea bed found in the near-shore zone, up to about 5 miles off the coast or 30m depth around the whole of the British Isles. In addition we are recording what lives in each area, establishing the richest sites for marine life, the sites where there are problems and the sites which need protection.

Any dive can be a Seasearch dive - why not try recording what you see on your next dive? You can download the survey forms from the "Seasearch Forms and Guidance Notes" page. Or why not join in with a Seasearch dive or course? The Seasearch Devon website has details of Seasearch activities happening all over the county.

Profiles of local dive sites around Plymouth can be found on the "Typical Dive Sites" page and you can find out what sorts of marine life we have spotted on past dives on the "Species Lists" page. And don't forget to check out the "Seasearch Gallery"!
