About our Group

If you are interested in becoming actively involved with marine conservation in Devon, then look no further than the MCS Plymouth Local Group! We offer a great way to learn about marine life, whilst helping to support the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) - the UK charity dedicated to caring for our seas, shores and wildlife - through fundraising, membership recruitment and MCS promotion.

The group was founded in 2002 and is in regular contact with more than 150 people on it's mailing list. We hold ten meetings a year and meet on the last Thursday of each month (except for August and December) at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe, where our guest speakers cover a wide variety of marine topics. Everyone is welcome to attend. See the 'Monthly Meetings' page for more details.

As well as monthly meetings, the Plymouth Local Group organises a variety of other events such beach cleans, underwater cleanups, snorkelling safaris and courses, for example underwater photography, marine life identification, marine ecology and Marine Mammal Medic (with British Divers Marine Life Rescue, BDMLR). See the 'Events' section for more details.

If you would like to get in touch with the group, or have any questions, please email or check the relevant pages of this website.
